Air-Conditioner-Types

Air-conditioner-types now-a-days are being made to fit every need of our lives. Therefore different models, size and shapes can be found on the supermarts and appliance stors. The following are the different types of air conditioners for your reference:

Window type – Also known as a through-wall air conditioner. It is simple, compact, and easy to install. When installed, half of the body is inside the room, and the other half is outside. The inside part consist of the evaporator, squirrel-caged fan motor, thermostat, and the electrical control. The outer part consist of the compressor, condenser, fan, and filter/dryer.

Floor Standing Split type – Is an air conditioner where the major components are divided into two units. The "in-door" and the "out-door" units. The indoor unit or "air-handler" unit consists of the evaporator, squirrel-caged fan motor, thermal expansion valve, and electronic control board. The outdoor unit or "condenser unit" consists of the compressor, condenser, fan motor, and filter/dryer.

Wall Split Type - The components' of this air-conditioner-type is divided into two, the same as the floor standing type. Except rather than mounting it on a wall, this model is left standing against a wall, usually with a piece of platform underneath. This air conditioner runs very quietly.

Ceiling Type - This is a split type air conditioner. The air handling unit is installed on the ceiling depending on the required location. There are four air vents which discharge the cold air into the room. These kind of air conditioners also operate very quietly and efficiently. They can be found in restaurants.

Self Sustained - These air-conditioner-types are found in offices mostly. It is basically a split type air conditioner, except their output is very much bigger than the previous ones. It can provide comfortable cooling for an office of 10 to 12 personnel. It hums during operation, and the cold air rush into the room at high velocity.

Portable Type - This is a compact air conditioner with all the components inside one casing. They can be brought anywhere in the room where cooling is needed. It has an exhaust flexible tube which must be brought outside the room or house so that the hot air can be discharge outside. The efficiency of this air conditioner is good. The capacity of this kind of air conditioner is limited to its body size.

Central Air - This is also a split air-conditioner-type and it is compact in design. It can be brought to any part of a room and it came with four casters for moving around. It has an exhaust flexible tube which must be brought outside the room. The size of this air conditioner limits the horsepower of the compressor.

Box Type - This is a commercial air conditioner, and they can be found on a small packaging plant where clean air and cooling is needed. The design is compact and with all the major components inside. They must be operated near a wall or preferably in a place where hot air can escape easily. The capacity is huge.

Industrial Type - This is a semi centralized type of air conditioner. They are installed on a large processing plants. This is a powerful air conditioner. Its components are inside the steel housing. A water drain pipe must be installed to guide the condensate water away from the plant. They are available from 1 ton to 30 tons. And they are also installed near the walls where heat can escape readily.
